Making the Move to Istanbul Turkey

Personal Experience Summary   by:SM THOMPSON

Global Post and its wonderfully accurate writer Nichole Sobecks presents an Istanbul view of a city which has 400,000 arrivals in Istanbul and the reason is economy and being cheaper than other major cities adjacent in Europe to Istanbul.  A former teacher, Norwegian Sommerset, is the proud owner of 2 historic buildings in Istanbul - he is renovating crumbling buildings and they date as far back as 1906 - presumably they are those wooden houses one sees when walking to work but then as an ex Istanbul Teacher I am guessing .. since I have often had a sort of dream state as I walked to work and commented to my colleagues "Wouldnt it be nice to buy one of those old houses and invest in Istanbul" however that was "then" and this is "now"!   So "Making the Move to Istanbul" is a current trend with ex pats but in order to avoid, according to the blog a sort of "Midnight Express of Real Estate" do check out the plumbers and apparently its hard work to find an honest taxi driver in Istanbul!  Nonsese! I want to add as in 2008 I found a Taxi Driver to take me from SAW Airport to Sirkeci who was as "honest as the day is long!" a quote I have never forgotten .. all the best to the Ex Pats living as investors in Istanbul Turkey!  Nice work!
