ABSTRACT
ARTHUR CHAPPELL’S HUMANISM WEBSITE www.arthurchappell.clara.net/contents.htm Manchester, England’s Arthur Chappell’s site is extremely diverse, with essays from a number of sometimes controversial philosophical, historic and academic publications sitting side by side with light-weight humerous poetry, short stories, book and film reviews and his many wry general observations on life. The site was originally set up in the hope that people would take an interest in all of Arthur’s works, though most people will tend to focus on what he has to say about their favourite subjects, be they interested in gender politics, religious cults (Arthur was in one himself for some years, and writes about them with some authority). The site is very search engine friendly for its range of subject matter means everyone
finds a
page to suit them sooner or later. Arthur provides interesting
links to take readers on to other
material too. The pages highlight Arthur as a poet, a Science Fiction fanatic, and an English Civil war enthusiast. It is hard to imagine how he finds time to write all this material. Being mostly plain text, the site downloads very quickly. Arthur does have a small selection of photographs of himself and his friends, but mostly he is a champion of the written word. Hit the
main contents page and either scroll through the main list of links there, or head for one of the conveniently situated sub-categories, Humanism/Atheism, Erotica, Pictures/ Civil War re-Enactment, Short Stories or Poetry among others. You canthen contact the author with your views through his e-mail arthur@chappell7300.freeserve.co.uk or through his web page guest book.
